Kristin Hannah

American novelist, born in Southern California in 1960 and raised partly in Washington State. She took a law degree at the University of Washington and practised in a Seattle firm, writing her first manuscript beside her mother during a difficult pregnancy. She has since published more than twenty novels, among them Firefly Lane (2008), later a Netflix series, The Nightingale (2015), a story of two sisters in occupied France that sold millions of copies, The Great Alone, The Four Winds (2021), set in the Dust Bowl, and The Women (2024), about army nurses in Vietnam.
