Louise Kennedy

Irish writer, born in 1967 and raised in Holywood, County Down, a few miles from Belfast during the Troubles. She cooked professionally for almost thirty years, running restaurants before she began writing in her late forties. Her story collection The End of the World Is a Cul de Sac appeared in 2021, and her first novel, Trespasses (2022) — an affair between a young Catholic teacher and an older Protestant barrister in 1970s Northern Ireland — won An Post Irish Novel of the Year, was shortlisted for the Women's Prize for Fiction and was named a book of the year across the British and Irish press.
